OBJ, IBB Tell Jonathan To Reinstate Adamawa, Rivers’ Excos

A day after former President Olusegun Obasanjo led other prominent Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, leaders, including former military President Ibrahim Babangida to wade into the crisis ripping the party, the leaders have called on President Goodluck Jonathan to immediately reinstate the executive committee of the both Adamawa and Rivers states chapter of the party.

Other recommendations which the Sunday Mirror reliably gathered was for President Jonathan to intervene and bring to order, the polarisation in the Nigeria Governors Forum which has pitted the governors between the Amaechi and Jang factions. President Jonathan was also mandated to bring all the aggrieved parties together so as to move the party forward.

Former President Obasanjo had on Friday while addressing the media after the failed reconciliation meeting at the Hilton Transcorp Hotel in Abuja said that the leaders which also include Board of Trustees Chairman, Chief Tony Anenih, and two former National Chairmen of the party, Senators Amadu Ali and Barnabas Gemade, will find a lasting solution the lingering crisis in the PDP.

He said, “Whatever reports we are making, it is suffice it to say that it is all family dispute within the PDP, and we want to stem the tide of going to the brinks.

And I want to say that we have met with the two sides of the family, we have listened to them and of course, we are going to put our heads together and go on from there.”

Seven PDP governors including Aliyu Babangida (Niger), Aliyu Wamakko (Sokoto), Sule Lamido (Jigawa), Rabiu Kwankwaso and Murtala Nyako (Adamawa), Rotimi Amaechi (Rivers) and Ahmed (Kwara) who joined former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to form the new PDP are demanding the sack of Tukur as the chairman of the party and the recognition of Amaechi as the Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum by President Goodluck Jonathan.

Sunday Mirror learnt that they also demanded that the suspension placed on Amaechi by the party be lifted. It was also leant that the group demanded the recognition of the executive of Adamawa State chapter of the party led by Alhaji Minjinyawa Kugama as against the one being led by Joel Madaki, which Tukur installed.

It was also gathered that the group insisted that a new convention must be held to elect members of the National Working Committee of the party since the August 31 convention, according to the group, lacked credibility.
