He charged them all to be good ambassadors of the Corps anywhere they are deployed to serve and be ready to bring the knowledge gained in the course of this training to bear in the discharge of your duties.
Audi reiterated these calls during the passing out parade of NSCDC female trainees to combat crimes and criminality in Plateau villages.
Abubakar Ahmed Audi says it is with great pleasure that I welcome you to this memorable occasion of the passing out ceremony for members of the Special Female Squad, Rapid Response Squad, and an Arms Squad of the NSCDC Plateau State Command.
Today’s event is indeed quite remarkable and a memorable one and I am overwhelmed and indeed excited to be part of this special inaugural passing out of officers and men of the Plateau State command.
Upon assumption of duty as the Commandant General, I was propelled by my vision to build a positive culture that will create a unique identity for the Corps within the security architecture of the country, hence, my focus on training and manpower development, bearing in mind its relevance to the quality of service, productivity, professionalism, and operational efficiency.
He maintained that his mission is to rejigged, revamp, rejuvenate, reinvigorate, reactivate, re-vitalize, restructure and reposition the Corps for better service delivery with greater efficiency in order to return the Corps to its pride of place amongst the committee of security agencies in the country.
It is in furtherance of this mission that the Civil Defense Special Female Force and the Rapid Response Squad was established as a child of necessity to effectively curtail the recent upsurge of insecurity occasioned by armed banditry, kidnapping, insurgency, and the need to effectively implement Government’s proposed Safe School Initiative to arrest the spate of the kidnapping of our school children and renew the confidence of parents, teachers, and students in all our academic institutions across the country.
Abubakar thanked His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Plateau State; Rt. Hon. Barr. (Dr.) Simon Bako Lalong, for the warm reception, accorded him and his team
He expressed that the Governor gave him overwhelming support to the Corps and by extension, all security establishments in the state receive from you. I am aware of the recent distribution of over two hundred brand new motorcycles and over fifty brand new operational vehicles to all security agencies in the state to help in combating all existing and perceived security challenges confronting this peace-loving state and the nation at large.
This gesture is indeed well appreciated and a positive step in the right direction towards preserving the sanctity of human lives by building a virile, peaceful, and formidable Plateau State devoid of crime, armed insurrection, banditry, kidnapping, and all manners of criminal tendencies.
He lauded the Plateau State Commandant (Comdt. Alexander Barunde) has consistently kept me abreast of all your laudable security achievements and support are given to all security agencies in the state.
According to him, this exercise should be sustained until all disgruntled elements disrupting the peace of the State are contained. Indeed, the nation is passing through a very challenging phase, which requires the introduction of new strategies to combat this menace.
However, the good news is that; His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari (GCFR) Rtd has reiterated his unwavering determination towards the total annihilation of all enemies of peace in Nigeria by directing the Armed Forces and all security agencies to deal ruthlessly with them by Communicating in the language criminals would understand.
We are committed to this noble task in partnership with other security agencies and I have a strong belief that we shall win the war against these criminals and make Nigeria great again.
The Commandant general said he cherished the sound partnership, synergy, and the strong working relationship existing between all security agencies in Nigeria today and I want to encourage us to sustain this tempo and do more by coming together to share information and credible intelligence to nip the various security threats in the bud knowing fully well that no singular organization can neither do it alone nor boast of the monopoly of security strategies.
We need to unite like never before and together we will forge an unbearable bond in containing the rising security challenges. Let me especially thank the Nigeria Army for standing strong both in training, nurturing, moral support, and maximum cooperation according to the Corps in all aspects.
This relationship predates what we see today and would be sustained.
A big thank you goes to all security agencies here in Plateau State. I was reliably informed that you detailed your team of instructors and instructional materials to help in the course of the training of my officers and men, please, let this understanding, partnership, cooperation, and strong bond between and among us continue to soar.
He warned the 412 newly train personnel to desist from unethical and unprofessional conduct that is capable of tarnishing the good image of the Corps, as anyone caught will be dealt with accordingly and decisively. Capacity building, training, and retraining of officers and men are sweeping across all Commands and formations of the Corps by his directive and he will ensure it is sustained towards the fulfillment of our core mandates.
He advocated that by virtue of the sound and quality of the training you have received, a high level of professionalism and best standard practice should be your watchword. Accidental discharge or any form of it is totally alien to the Corps and must not happen under my watch. Strict adherence to rules of engagement, self-control, and friendly disposition is the only path to follow. By my directive, you were subjected to intense forensic, psychological, and behavioral evaluation and I am very confident that you are fit and mentally stable, emotionally and psychologically certified to carry out any assignment was given to you. I am particularly glad today that conceiving the idea of establishing the Special Female Squad in combating peculiar security threats in the country was indeed a quality decision as the result is evident to all. I do not see you, people, as ladies anymore, therefore, bring all capabilities to bear and compete favourably with your male counterparts in all ramification
Audi stated that the Rapid Response Squad on the other hand is a specialized alternative response to emergencies conceived of recent by my administration based on the challenging dynamics of insecurity and all acts of terrorism, wanton killings, abductions, kidnapping, banditry, and other forms of criminality must be faced headlong till we achieve the much-desired peace and security in the nation.
He appreciated Royal fathers and Royal Majesties for the support, words of encouragement, fatherly counsel, and security advice they continually offer in managing the security situations in the country with a view to enhancing mutual coexistence and trust among the citizens.
Abubakar urged traditional fathers to continue to support the Corps and all other security agencies until normalcy is restored across the country.
He pointed out that the recent upsurge and frequency of attacks on schools by bandits who engaged in kidnapping of students for ransom has made it imperative for us to focus attention on intensifying security in all our academic environments as a proactive measure towards guaranteeing safety and restoring the confidence of students, parents, teachers and the academic community as a whole.
It is worthy of note that the Corps has carried out a vulnerability survey in schools in Nigeria with a view to identifying those that are highly vulnerable and susceptible to attacks in different parts of the country. The reports obtained from the field have indeed given the Corps a clue on the strategies to adopt in enhancing the safety of our schools and today’s occasion, therefore, is part of our efforts in this direction, he stressed.
The Commandant General assured the citizens of this great country that the Corps will continue to take proactive measures in ensuring that we bequeath to Nigerians a safe and secure environment to guarantee the security of lives and property of not only Nigerians but everyone residing within our geographical space and we shall continue in our dogged fight until peace, security, social-economic and political development of the country is guaranteed.
He thanked the Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, our supervising Minister, who has provided the Corps with an enabling environment and the much-needed support and assistance to reposition the Corps for effective service delivery.
Abubakar Audi also commended the resilience, doggedness, and commitment of the officers and men of Plateau State Command for their efforts in promoting peace and security in the State.
