NSCDC Arrest Staffs Over Planned Protest On Issue Of Non-Payment Of 2023 Election Allowances, Salary Arrears, As One Officer Slumped, Rushed To Hospital In Jos

Yakubu Busari

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, have arrested some of their staff and brought them to Plateau over a planned nationwide protest on the alleged nonpayment of arrears, allowances, and promotion salary benefits.

The affected staff were threatened by the Commandant General during his courtesy call to the state Command located at Old Airport base before proceeding to the government house.

The accused staff were indiscriminately arrested within and outside Plateau State but were transferred to Jos on an allegation that they posted their complaints on social media.

It was gathered that it didn’t go down well with the National Headquarters in Abuja including the 36 States command as the aggrieved workers planned the protest over the non-payment of the 2023 general elections allowances.

The information available to our medium revealed that some of the staff who were alleged to have been the arrowheads of the planned protests nationwide were arrested and brought to Plateau State.

However, one of those planning to protest slumped and was rushed to the hospital, as it is now the victim is seeking medical attention in an undisclosed hospital in Plateau state

There has been a general outcry due to the nonpayment of the promotion arrears where some of the promoted staff have spent over 10 years enjoying their new rank.

It was gathered that the Comptroller General jetted into Plateau State capital to threaten the aggrieved workers, that any attempt to truncate his remaining four years in service would be met with stiff resistance.

” I shall deal decisively with any of you who conspire to gang up against my office”, the comptroller of NSCDC warned the Plateau State command of his intention.

The command is prepared to handle any of those who might have posted the issue of allowances meant for the elections held in 2023 “, the statement revealed.

However, efforts to speak to the state command PRO proved abortive, as our correspondent sent a text yesterday at about 7:45 pm to confirm this, however, at the time of filling in this report, there has not been any reply as so many calls placed to his phone was not answered.
