Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has congratulated the Executive Chairman of the Nasarawa State Board of Internal Revenue Service, Ahmed Mohammed Yakubu for exceeding the 2023 Internally Generated Revenue target by 38 percent collection, saying Nasarawa State will in no distance time compete with Ogun State in terms of IGR generation.

The Governor expressed satisfaction on the stewardship of the headship of the board and all and sundry.
He said the collection of N22,228bn, generating an additional N7.282 by the Revenue board was a clear show of commitment for a job well done, stating that the State needed IGR for development.
“This a good beginning and I know one day, The State will use the Internally Generated Revenue to pay the salary of civil servants, with the outcome of a collection of 2023.
The Governor, however, explained that the autonomy accorded the Revenue board would be fully operational, The independence of the state Revenue Service would necessitate the board to execute capital projects, and pay staff salaries without waiting for overhead and other financial support from the State Government.
He also commended the State House of Assembly for the passage of the harmonization law which he said translated to a sharp increase in tax collected from November 2023 to December 2023 respectively.
“Is quite commendable for the House of Assembly for the sacrifice to abandon some of their commitment to reconvened and work thoroughly on the harmonization law during recess, this quite commendable”.
The Governor presented an award of excellent performance to Mr. Paul Adamu and the best taxpayer of the year, Mr. Damian Ofonebu of Top 10 Pharmacy and Fatima Ibrahim.
Also, the Nasarawa State Board of Internal Revenue Service rewarded the Corporate Affairs Commission, Abuja as the best Pay As You Earn of the year while it named Setraco, a construction firm, as the best PAYE compliant of the year 2023′
Chief Chukwuemeka Oliver was selected as the Income taxpayer of the year 2023, The planning committee saddled with the selection of beneficiaries of the award presented an award of excellent service to Agye Obutu as the best watchman of the year 2023′
Others include Abdullahi Sarki as the best driver of the year, while Esther Agida, a female, and Salihu Umar , a male were rewarded as the Discipline Staff of the Year, Abdulkarim Yusuf, a physically challenged staff bag the award of Most Prudent Employee of the year.
John Ambaga, male, and Hassana Adamu, female The Most committed staff of the year 2023, and Patience Efolan bagged an award for hardworking staff, while Ibrahim Magaji , male hardworking staff.
Diikko Hussaini bagged the award of Head of Collection of the year Godwin Barnabas Sani as Area Task Officer Of the Year and Paul was rewarded as Best Zonal Officer of the Year while Yakubu Hamza for widening and deepening Task Base.
Mr.Bulus Akaba as the best Director of the year, and Umar Adamu Okpadobu as the Ambassador of Goodwill, Others that were carefully selected includes the Lagos liaison office, The Chairman of the Planning committee, Sabo Balarabe Usman said the award and reward to hardworking staff was meant to spur others to do more.
“The award and reward are in phases, which also includes cash rewards also, Balarabe Usman added.
The executive Chairman of the board, Ahmed Mohammed Yakubu thanked the State Governor, Engineer Abdullahi Sule for the enabling environment to ease revenue collection as he informed the gathering that from January to November 2023,The revenue board collected the sum of N22.228bn.
He attributed the enabling atmosphere created by the State Governor to the harmonization law signed by the State Governor as the brain behind the sharp increase in revenue.
The Chairman, In a keynote address, described Nasarawa State as one of the leading States in terms of revenue generation in the North-Central zone, He in addition said the 2023 collection represents 38 Percent of the exceeded target.
According to the Chairman, In 2018 were. Generated N6.250bn, in 2019-N7.4bn, In 2020 was N11.07bn,In 2021 is N10bn, In 2022 is N18.48bn and In 2023 were collected N22.282bn.
“Really if you want results in revenue collection you have to do this, automate your process, that is the introduction of Central Billing System, the recent independence is another factor that will boost our Internally Generated Revenue.
