Northern Yorubas Eulogizes Late Mrs HID Awolowo

The Omo Oodua Yoruba community in 19 Northern states and FCT Abuja mourns the demise of late mama HID Awolowo and described the death as colossal loss of a unifying force in the political Arena of Nigeria.

The group therefore called on both federal and state governments to immortalize her Name in view of the outstanding contributions and also advice to all Yoruba both at home and Diaspora to always maintain peace with governments and their neighbors irrespective of ethnic, creed political and geographical differences.

The President Oodua Yoruba Community Plateau state chapter, Hon. Tunde J. Oladapo said this when they arose from an emergency meeting to honor late yeye Oodua held in Jos yesterday.

He said, the National leader of the group, Chief Toye Ogunshuyi added that although her death was devastating he  noted that with pride that the nonagenarian died a peaceful life.

In a statement issued by Hon.Tunde Oladapo who doubles as publicity secretary of Yoruba unity Forum (YUF) 19 Northern states chapter founded by late Mama Awolowo described her as a role model and matriarch who contributed immensely towards the success of both old and modern Nigeria and urge other women to emulate her good philosophy.

While commiserating with the grandson in-law vice President, Yemi Osibanjo, the people and government of Ogun state and the bereaved family to take solace in the fact that Late Yeye Oodua of Yorubaland lived a fulfilled life in the service of God and humanity.

The statement also noted with pride the articulation of an intelligence, kind hearted, loving matriarch of Awolowo family and Chairman of African Newspapers and publishers of Tribune Newspaper and urged the children to sustain the good legacy of the media industry even after the death of both chief and Obafemi Awolowo.

It said the role of late Yeye Oodua would be evergreen in the minds of many Nigerians towards her efforts in reducing crises and tension in Plateau, Benue and many states in the North-east zone as well as other areas in Nigeria.
