The Northern Governors Forum meeting held today in Kaduna saw only five governors in attendance, an indication which show that that there may be a crack in fold of the governors since after the contentious Governors Forum election held recently in Abuja.

As gathered by universalreporters.info, the five which attended that Forum’s meeting are Niger State governor and Chairman of the Forum, Dr. Babangida Aliyu, Governor Sule Lamido of Jigawa, Governor of Gombe, Ibrahim Dankwambo and Nasarawa State Governor, Governor Umaru Tanko Al- Makura.

Meanwhile these states it was gathered that seven States sent their deputies to represent them, the states include Kwara, Kogi, Kano, Kebbi, Borno, Sokoto and Zamfara even as three states Yobe, Bauchi, and Kastina didn’t attend the meeting neither did they sent any representatives, and they didn’t also sent apologies for their absence.
Governor Aliyu in his opening remarks told journalists that the governors of Adamawa and that of Taraba States sent their apologies for the non-availability of the duo at the meeting.
Interestingly while Journalists were waiting for the Chairman of the Forum, Governor Aliyu, to pronounce the meeting open as being done always in previous meeting through his opening speech, declined as rather he asked Journalists to wait for the Forum’s communiqué when the meeting ends.
While the meeting was on, staff of the New Nigerian Newspaper surrounded the venue of the meeting in protest for the non-payment of their fifteen months salaries owed them, as they pleaded with the Governors not to allow the late Ahmadu Bello, Sardauna of Sokoto legacy to die.
The NNN chapel leader, Amos Matthew said they are on this protest in order to claim for their salaries, as they are left with nothing than “to report to work, sign and leave.”
