The newly appointed Provost of the Jigawa state College of Education [COE] Gumel Dr. Sa’idu Barau has expressed concern over the delay in releasing examination results of graduating students where the take five to seven years before collection.
He shown the concern over the weekend while taking over the mantle of leadership of the College from his predecessor Dr. Dahiru Abdulkadir saying that it was very disturbing where an NCE student who supposed to spend three years to complete his Course, but spends additional three or four years before he or she collect their final results which was very unfortunate.
‘Gone was era of such ugly trend in the College during my tenure as its Provost. I will re invigorate the Information and Communication Technology Center [ICT] where immediately after exams have marked , the results will be posted so that students can obtained the scratch card ,insert, click, and see their result instantly,’’ he pointed out.
Dr. Barau disclosed that parts of restructuring, he will introduce serve com for enhancing effective service delivery among the staff of the College and check their excesses in order to forge ahead pointing that did mean to say staff are to be with hunt, but rather, improvement of service.
The new provost who stated that remarkable achievements, were recorded in the areas of infrastructures, academic excellent, and staff ,welfare, stressing that he will consolidate the gains as well as pledged to carry everybody along in the running of the Institution.
He said that teacher education is supposed to be model of learn and character stressing that failure of a teacher was the failure of the young ones because , the College produces teachers who will inculcate moral character in the minds of young and future generations.
On the issue of examination malpractice, cultism, and other social vices, Dr. Barau stated there was a standing establishment committees which take care of that adding he reinforce them to work assiduously to mitigate such unscrupulous vices in the College.
He said that his intention was to introduce more academic progrmames especially degree where only six programmes are offering by the College as of now pointed out increasing number of students during the admission will be determined by the demand ,and NCC guidelines.
Dr. Sa’idu Barau who conversed for support and cooperation, from both staff and students, thanked Jigawa state government for finding eligible to lead the college stated that his appointment was the will of God not because he was better that others and warned that he will not condone unethical acts from all and sundry.
