The All Progressives Congress ,APC, candidate for the Plateau State Central ,Hon. Diket plang has described the protesters to INEC headquarters demanding the announcement of Nigerian PDP Candidate in a pending rerun schedule by constitution as anti-democratic and jobless individuals .
He stated this in a press statement made available to media in Jos, saying their attention has been drawn to the visit of a group of people in the name of PDP plateau central zone forum PCZF to the headquarters of INEC in Jos to submit a demand letter to the REC commissioner .
According to him, the group purportedly gave him an ultimatum to declare one Ambassador Yohanna Gotom as winner of the February 25th Senatorial election for plateau central within 74hrs or face their raft.
He said the group believed that Ambassador Gotom won the said election but was denied victory.
” I would have simply ignore their rant which in the real sense signifies the wagging of the tail of a dying Horse, but doing so will not allow them realised the fatality of their ignorance on situations as this.
The new electoral law is unambiguously clear on situations as this which they should have consulted to clear their doubts particularly their leader, a former speaker of the plateau state House of Assembly whom I respect much and who in his capacity as a former law maker should have known better and advise the irate mob to steer clear of such baldadash.
The result of the said election clearly revealed that I was the clear winner leading with over four thousand votes, but for reasons best known to the returning officer he failed to declare me winner after canceling the result of Gagdi ward and yet leaving me on the lead,”he explained .
No one has the monopoly of evasive actions but because we are very confident that victory is ours, we shall wait patiently for the direction of the electoral umpire in this matter.
No amount of treat, lies, intimidation and propaganda will take the decision of the electoral body away from the will of the people has reflected in their majority votes to me.
