NLNG, Airtel and Dangote Cement to Receive Excellence Awards

All is set for the 2016 Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry Excellence Awards. The event, slated for Wednesday 24th February, 2016 at the Sheraton Hotels & Towers Abuja with the theme, promoting the Spirit of Excellence will be an occasion to celebrate business
ingenuity, unparalleled innovation and economic breakthroughs.

The event will showcase, in grand style, the 2016 Excellence Award and winners namely Nigeria LNG Limited – the Corporate Socially Responsible Company of the Year – for its landmark project, University Support Programme, Airtel Nigeria – the Most Innovative Business Idea for its Recharge and Hit a Million promo – Dangote Cement as the Outstanding
Company of the Year.

According to Barr. Jude Igwe, the Vice President, Media for the Chamber, ‘The Awards are to recognise the huge achievements of the winning organisations in the difficult art of pursuing excellence in the highly competitive world of business. It is also intended to encourage and
drive the spirit of entrepreneurship in the non-oil sectors of our economy helping the country come out gloriously from the challenges created by dwindling oil prices and fortunes.”

Mr. Igwe declared that “The chamber is very ready and has all preparations in place, to deliver a world class event, stating that among the several dignitaries who will grace the occasion is the former Vice President of the World Bank, Nigeria’s former Minister for Education and Minister for Solid Minerals Development, Dr Mrs Obiageli Ezekwesili. She will deliver the key note address. His Excellency the Executive Governor of Jigawa State Alhaji Muhammadu Badaru Abubakar who is the Chief Guest of Honour, the FCT Minister, Mallam Mohammed Musa Bello will be the Special Guest of Honour”, “representatives of
MDAs, the organised private sector, the diplomatic corps and other top government officials will be attending this gathering of Excellence for the year,” he noted. The occasion would also be witnessed by representatives of the different city chambers in the country who would be in Abuja for the NACCIMA Quarterly Council meeting being hosted by ACCI.

The Chamber leadership is focused on using the private sector to drive Nigeria’s economic growth. The Chamber’s Excellence Award will be an annual celebration of the Nigerian Business Community’s contributions in diverse areas of the nation’s economy. The Abuja Chamber of Commerce had announced the winners in a World Press Conference held in
Abuja on Wednesday January 27, 2016.
