New Transmitter Install At Horizon Fm Dutse To Boost Station Capacity

The Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN, has installed a new transmitter at Horizon FM, Dutse, in Jigawa State.  The transmitter a 5-kilowatt transmitter is expected to boost the quality of the station.

Shortly after the installation of the transmitter, the General Manager of the station, Dr. Musa Idris Barnawa assured the station’s audience of better broadcasting services.

He expressed his appreciation to the management of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, particularly the Director-General, Dr. Mansur Liman, and the Zonal Director, Kaduna, Alhaji Buhari Auwalu for their commitment to ensuring that the new transmitter is procured for the station.

Dr. Idris Barnawa noted that the installation of the new transmitter will boost the morale of the staff of the station and make its operations more efficient.

He highlighted some challenges facing the station to include the lack of a recording studio and a digital consul at the live studio while expressing optimism that more equipment will be provided for the station to make it fully operational and digitized.

In his remarks, Engineer Cliff Adikwe, who represented the company that installed the transmitter, explained that the firm will also train the station’s engineers on how to operate and maintain the equipment.

He, however, said with adequate cooling the transmitter could run for twenty hours a day and last for the next ten years.

Also speaking at the occasion, Engineer Alkali Yusuf from the transmitter maintenance firm, explained that the transmitter would by far surpasses the transmission capacity of the station’s analog transmitter which was replaced.
