NDLEA Arrest 36 Persons In Jigawa

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, Jigawa state said it has arrested 36 people in the State over drug and drug-related cases, they were arrested in motor parks and other places in the State.

The State Commandant Hajia Maryam Sani told newsmen shortly after their arrest in Dutse, Guri, and Kirikasamma local government areas in the state.

She said the command embarked on a mission in Kiri kasamma,  Guri, Hadejia, and other parts of the state with the determination to clamp down on illicit drug activities to reduce crimes and criminality in the state which are drugs induced.

She describes drugs as an agent provocateur of all other crime as it negatively changes the mood of a user,  adding that the drug user consequently embarks on a mission.

Hajia Maryam explained that in a joint operation with other security agencies they arrested 36 people with different types of hard drugs, including Cannabis Sativa and all other forms of dangerous drugs.

She assured that, her Command will continue to arrest and prosecute these merchants of death and that they will continue to educate the pupils and students of primary and secondary schools.

“Our mission is to reduce the number of drug users by carrying out an enlightenment campaign to tertiary institutions, motor parks, markets, as well as the women’s groups and even the general public.”

Hajiya Maryam said their operation is targeted at drug sellers and drug users, as she said this will address the insecurity situation in the country, especially in the two local government areas of the state in Kirikasamma and Guri.

He added that the NDLEA has renewed vigor to fight the drug war and that with this and the support of the state government and other stakeholders, they will continue to launch offensive on all drug hideouts in the state.

She, therefore, solicited the support and cooperation of the general public in providing the organization with useful information that will enable them to serve better.

She also thanked the state government for its support and cooperation in the course of their duties in the state.
