Mrs Tochukwu Ifejika, Chairperson of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Anambra Chapter, joined her counterparts to celebrate the strength and resilience of women worldwide.
In her message in Awka on Saturday, Ifejika highlighted the 2025 theme, ‘Accelerate Action: For a Gender-Equal World.’ She stressed that true equality demands bold and collective action.
She expressed concern over achieving gender equality and encouraged women in Anambra to actively engage in political and social activities to help realise this goal.
Ifejika noted that a gender-equal world is not just an aspiration but a necessity. It requires dismantling systemic barriers and ensuring equal opportunities for women and girls in education, leadership, healthcare, and governance.
She said: “As we celebrate this day, I urge everyone to commit to advancing women’s economic empowerment, increasing their representation in leadership, and ensuring access to quality education and healthcare.
“We must work to eliminate gender-based violence and discrimination. Every woman deserves a world where her voice is heard, her dreams nurtured, and her potential limitless.
“While we celebrate progress and victories, let us push forward, take action, and drive change for a more inclusive and equitable world. Together, we accelerate action for equality.”
