Batch B, stream 2 serving Corps members has protested at the entrance of Government House, Lafia demanding for the release of backlog of 11 months state allowances.
The leader of the protesting Corp members, Eze Emmanuel expressed concerned over the the nonpayment of 11 months state allowance owned Corp teachers in public schools.
“We were denied our allowances for the past 11 months and no reason was given to us, and the nonpayment was only affecting Corp teachers in public schools.
“Even those that left before us were owned backlog of allowances”.
“We followed all channels and those that matters but to no avail, this foist us to took the last decision”.
The state commissioner of Education blamed the State Coordinator over nonpayment of N98m allowances.
Ahmed Aliyu Tijjani has attributed the nonpayment of 11 months allowances to Batch B, stream 2 as a costly mistake by the State coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps.
The Commissioner in an interview shortly after the protest faulted Zainab Isa over the enchantment Batch B, stream 2 are passing through.
He said the state government is doing all it possible best towards curtailing the ugly situation, he expressed grief over quantum of money involved.
Stating that the late deployment of Corpers from neighboring states to Nasarawa constitute a serious impediment to the process.
“The state coordinator submitted a list of supplementary Corp members to the ministry dated 17 October 2017.
The coordinator while addressing newsmen said the NYSC has never compute names for payment of Corp members.
“When we submitted the list the state was on strike”.
“It the authorities in the state that over blunt the issue by insisting on table payment”
Stating that the NYSC was up to date with the issue of federal allowances
She denied that no fake Corp members in Nasarawa State, adding that any Corper with kaki is a genuine Corp member.
Zainab said she has been receiving a lot of complaints of shortchanging corners in Keffi, Nasarawa Eggon and many others.
