National Assembly Is Nigeria’s Main Problem- CACOL

The Coalition Against Corrupt Leaders (CACOL) has described the National Assembly as the main problem of the country.

This came on the heel of the resolution of the Senate that the nation’s leadership since the return to full democratic rule, 14 years ago, had taken no serious step to tackle corruption,  unemployment, rot in the education sector, decayed infrastructure and nepotism.
The Senators on Thursday, had unanimously submitted that the nation’s leaders, apart from those who fought for its independence, 53 years ago, had failed to provide the required leadership that could make the country socio-economically independent.

Reacting to the incident, the Coalition through its Executive Chairman, Comrade Debo Adeniran averred that the National Assembly has been the major problem of Nigeria.
He said, “It is crass irresponsibility for the Senators to lament the plights of the Nigerian masses when as a matter of fact, they are part of the political brigandage that has been holding the growth of the nation down through their jumbo salaries and high corruption going on in the National Assembly.
What masses-friendly law has ever been passed by these so-called legislators since the inception of democracy 14 years? All they do is fix allowances and emoluments for themselves at the expense of the poor civil servants who have been yearning for reasonable wages that could make them live successful lives with their families.
Their legislative business doesn’t favour the masses, they do everything to satisfy their gluttonous ego. This is a country with a preponderance of poor people and its legislators are the highest paid in the whole world. Is it not an high of thoughtlessness for them to live big in the midst of poor masses that are merely eking a living?
It is so pathetic that the vultures that have devoured the country to bones could still open their mouths to lament that the nation is suffering from bad leadership. Who are the leaders they are referring to? These are set of people that have left their primary responsibility of legislating to enriching themselves through oversight functions, which is secondary. As a matter of fact, if the oversight functions are done properly, corruption would have been reduced in the MDAs. Do they think Nigerians will fall for their rhetoric? And now that they have woken up from their slumber, what are they going to do to alleviate the plight of the Nigerian masses?”
The anti-corruption crusader however averred that revolution is the only solution to the problem of the country.
“Many of our so-called leaders have shown that they don’t have the interest of the people at heart. The only way out of the current problem is through a peaceful revolution which could only come about by calling the conference of the people or a bloody revolution.”
