National Assembly Crisis, APC Should Put Their House In Order-Hon Binta

Hassan Galadima

A member of House of Representative from Gombe State Hon Binta Bello has blamed the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for the show of shame in the two chambers of the National Assembly.

Hon Binta while responding to questions from newsmen on the on-going confusion in the House of Representatives over principal offices said “we are elected by Nigerians to legislate on their behalf and ensure good governance in the country, but what we are witnessing under the APC majority in the House is a thing of shame. The principal actors are more concerned about who occupies what office; this is unacceptable to the rest of us”

The lawmaker therefore warned her colleagues not to take Nigerians for ride, stressing that the chambers of the National Assembly is not a property of APC, and should be opened for legislative business on Tuesday next week. According to her, “there are more pressing National issues such as the security situation in the country to discuss in the chambers rather than fighting over nothing”

Hon Binta used the opportunity to congratulate her fellow female lawmakers both in the House and the senate for their victory in the election even as she urges them to lobby their male counterparts on gender related issues as well as children in their legislative duty. In her words” the change mantra of the ruling APC can only be realized if the lawmakers can work together in the interest of our country Nigeria”
