NASPOLY To Embark On Indefinite Strike Over Nonpayment Of Salary Of 32 Staff

All is now set by the academic staff Union of Polytecnic,Nasarawa state Polytechnic ,Lafia to embark on an indefinite strike demanding the payment of seven (7) months’ salary of thirty two (32) staff of the institution.

A competent source from the Polytecnic said thirty two staff comprises of fifteen academic staff (lecturers) and sixteen (16) non-academic staff, which the state has been owing  seven months salary way back as September 2015.

It was unraveled that one Shuaibu Sani died after the nonpayment of four months salary by the state Government, while of the frustrated staff also left the service of the Polytechnic while the remaining staff are passing through a lot .

Other demands of ASUP also include the continue disengagement of engage staff who are part of the hiccups of the institution,The Union has slated Thursday as the date ASUP would take a stringent decision over the status of the embattled staff who were legally employed in 2011.

An insider from the salary unit of the school revealed money to the tune of N18m was needed to settle the backlog of seven months salary of thirty two staff, A reliable source faulted the State Government for delisting the last batch of staff employed by the management of the Polytechnic.

ASUP unfolded that the State Government revealed that any staff employed in 2011 is not recognized by the State Government and would not be paid their salary.

The rector of the institution confided that  the nonpayment of the affected staff,Saying the management is on top of the situation.
