The Chairman of Nasarawa State Independent Electoral Commission, Barrister Ayuba Wandai has applauded the state Governor, Engineer Abdullahi Sule for the approval of rules of procedure for the commission.
He disclosed this during an exclusive interview with selected Journalist in his office, The chairman of the state electoral umpire said the commission has been operating without rules of procedure for the past twenty years.
He further explained that the rules of procedure serves as a guide to the operation of the commission, adding that it spelt out the dos and the don’t of the commission.
He said the rules of procedure give the management a clear cut direction in the discharge of its responsibility.
The Chairman when asked on the level of preparation ahead of the forthcoming Local Government election, Hon.Wandai explained that the tenure of the present political office holders at the third tier of government would expire on May 27 2021 by 12:00 mid-night.
He however stated that a new date would be announced for the conduct of the Local Government election.
The Chairman maintained that the commission needed money to the tune of Eighty Hundred Million naira (N800,000,000).
He further explained that money is never the problem of the State Independent Electoral Commission.
He gave the assurance that the Commission would conduct a free, fair, and credible election under his watch.
