Nasarawa State Partner US President Malaria Initiative To Distribute 1.6million Free Long Lasting Insecticide Nets

Nasarawa State Government with support from the United State Government through the U.S President’s Malaria Initiative is to distribute 1.6m Long Lasting Insecticide Net.

The objective of the distribution exercise is to ensure that every 2 Persons in Nasarawa State have access to LLIN.

The distribution will be done in 716 distribution points across all the 13 Local Governments of the state.

This was part of a Press Parley held at De 1st Crown Hotel in Lafia, the Nasarawa State Capital.

The distribution will commence on the 23rd and end on the 27th of February 2018.

The said the newly collected nets must be aired under a shade for 24 hours before use.

The distribution campaign is led by the Nasarawa State Ministry of Health through State Malaria Elimination Program with technical assistance from U.S PMI Implementation Partners, Global Health Supply Chain Procurement Supply Management, Project and Health Communication Capacity Collaborative HC3 Project.

The exercise tagged “1 Net card, I Net, No card ,No net ,Adaeze Aidenagbon in her topic ” Addressing Concerns “statewide campaign said exercise would take place on 22/02/2018 as well distribution at the Local Government Councils respectively.

Dr. Bala Dogo in his address ” Providing Information “hinted on the benefits of Long Lasting Insecticide Net which he said the users of treated net experienced undisturbed sleeping, save life and money, cheapest form of prevention.

He further maintained that the incorrect or misapplication of Long Lasting Insecticide Net leads to Skin rashes, redness of the eye and skin.

Anthony Odins Edozieuno HC3 Project Coordinator in his contribution titled “Why Media Support Is Crucial in eradicating Malaria “, opined that malaria is worse than HIV/AIDS and hepatitis.

Urging the Press to keep malaria issue in the front burner of their reportage, stating that the Press under report malaria related issues.

He said more than 35% of children died of malaria while and 30% of expectant mothers died of complications during birth.

He also called for a proactive step to eliminate malaria in the state, he said malaria affect the education of children.

He appealed to the public to adopt the use of Long Lasting Insecticide Net, Indoor Residual Spray and Larval source management as the key strategies for prevention and control.
