How Nasarawa State Govt Discovered 1600 Ghost Workers

• Previous Exercises A Total Flaw Says Al-Makura

One Thousand Six Hundred (1600) ghost workers were discovered in the payroll of Nasarawa state, the executive director of Skye Bank, Mal.Idris Yakubu has disclosed. The executive director hinted this during the submission of the 18 months biometric and data capture screening exercise.

Yakubu in an interview with Journalists buttressed that 1,600 persons did not turn up for the screening, Adding that the State Government would realize N83m monthly from the ghost workers, He in addition said N990m would be saved annually.

The executive director opined that the free screening exercise was meant to verify existence of civil servants, to eliminate the existence of ghost workers in the state as as well blocked leakages,He described the delay in the submission of the report in four months due to security threat in some part of the state.

Governor while receiving the report described the previous biometric and data capture screening exercise as a total flaw, He attributed the failure of past screening exercise in the state to  bureaucracy which he said is a cogwheel that bedevilled the exercise.

Al-Makura further directed the director bureau of salary to implement the report of the committee without further delay, Stating that civil servants that did not present their Biometric Verification Number (BVN) stand the risk of loosing his salary.

The Governor noted that the implementation of TSA/BVN in Government institutions is to ensure proper accountability ,wipe corruption and wastages of taxpayers money, He also affirmed that next week has been slated for the disbursement of N60 million 500 Housing Estate along Doma road.

The Governor also stated that Nigeria Labour Congress and Trade Union Congress would be fully represented during the disbursement of fund ,The Governor maintained that 1500 youths would be employed under the Nasarawa State Youth Empowerment Scheme (NAYES),Al-Makura attested that beneficiaries would be selected from all the electoral wards of the state.
