The Nasarawa State Executive Council Has Approved The Sum Of  N1.6bn  For The  Stocking Of Fish In  Doma Dam,

The Director of Fisheries and Aquaculture in the official Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resource, Judah Attah has said that the state government has taken drastic measures to revive freshwater fish in the Doma dam

 

The Director stated this during an emergency meeting with members of the Fisheries Cooperative Federation of Nigeria, Nasarawa State chapter. with the Commissioner, Professor Otaki Allahnana.

 

He said the state government would also take advantage of the dam to establish a hatchery and feed mill,He opines that the establishment of hatchery and feed Mills would create job opportunity for the teeming youth

 

He in addition averred that the host communities and the state as well as boosting revenue generation.

 

He lauded the Association for the prompt response to water Pollution’, He explained that tight security would be provided to manned the dam to avoid trespassing by fishermen within the dam

 

The Commissioner hinted that the State Governor is poise to boost fish production in the state, adding that all hands must be on deck

to bring recalcitrant to book.

 

The state chairman of the Association, Hon. Bashir Mohammed Umar in his speech applauded the state Government for the timely response to get rid of bad eggs in the society.

 

Saying the Association would Accord all necessary support to the State Government especially at this moment that is investing huge amount of money in stocking fish in Doma dam.

 

“As a fish farmer and dealer, I relied on Icefish. The majority of us have no single fish in our houses due to the effect of water Pollution’, The chairman acknowledges this during the emergency meeting held at the hall of the state ministry of Agriculture and Water Resource.

 

He also warned consumers of fresh fish to be more vigilant by reporting cases of water Pollution’ in all books and cranny of the State.

 

Speakers after speakers explained that they would support the idea by guarding waters within their inhabitants
