Nasarawa state governorship candidate in 2015 election, Laraban Maku has raised alarm over the rising spate of kidnapping in the state, saying nobody sleep with two eyes close.

Maku,the former Information minister piqued over the increasing cases of kidnapping has assured the people of Nasarawa state of his frantic steps towards addressing cases of kidnapping if elected as the next governor.

Labaran Maku gave the revelation during the commissioning and handing over of a 1000 capacity multi-purpose hall constructed by Majalisan Maccido Foundation in Nunku community of Akwanga Local Government.

Maku said kidnapping would be a thing of the past as new party, the All Progressive Grand Alliance takes over the mantle of leadership from the ruling All Progressives Congress in 2019.

Records have shown that kidnapping was at its climax in Akwanga Local Government, the Northern senatorial district of the state.

It could be recalled that the former minister of Labour , Hussaini Zanwa Akwanga was abducted by unknown gunmen and huge ransom was paid and was freed by his abductors.

Hon. Mary Emwogulu an erstwhile member of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly and a candidature for the federal House of Representatives representing Nasarawa Eggon, Akwanga, Wamba and the current commissioner Women affairs was kidnaped during the 2015 general election.

Feelers described her abduction as politically motivated by her opponent in the same political party, the All Progressives Congress as chunk amount of money was paid as ransom and she was freed.

The former member and currently the commissioner women affairs in an interview attributed her ordeal to the handiwork of her opponent who was beaten hands down in the party primaries.

“I knowns the man that heralded my kidnapping just to compelled me to forget that election, though my problem was an intra-party manipulation with the handiwork of policemen”.

Is on record that gunmen numbering 15 stormed Moroa community of Akwanga Local Government and whisk away the family of Hon.member Kassim Mohammed Kassim including his biological mother and others recently.

The PPRO declined comment on the four Fulani men arrested in connection to the kidnapping of Hon.Kassim family while parading some suspected armed robbers, kidnappers and ritual killers and other miscellaneous criminals at the state Criminal Investigation Department.

DSP Idirisu Kennedy said investigation is still ongoing as the suspects apprehended are in the custody of the Criminal Investigation Department.

The state also witnessed the kidnapping of the wives of the current commissioner of Education, Hon.Ahmed Aliyu Tijjani at his abode in Nasarawa Local Government.

Neither the chairman of the ruling party in the state, Philip Tatari Shekwor,the party secretary, Aliyu Bello or the party Publicity secretary, Wodu Yanba Agidi could be reach to react on the report as at press time.
