Nasarawa Police Commissioner Laments Over Ineptitude Of Officers, Logistics, Paucity Of Fund

The commissioner of police, Nasarawa,Sadiq Abubakar Bello has lamented over Ineptitude amongst newly posted officers to Nasarawa state command as a precarious huddle hindering the performance of the Nigeria Police.

The commissioner disclosed this during the commissioning of the new Nasarawa state police command headquarters along Shendam road, Lafia,C.P Abubakar averred that newly posted officers of the Nigeria Police transferred to the state shun duty post at will.

Adding that some officers when transferred to the state report for one month and seek for redeployment to another state other than Nasarawa state, he further maintained that the command is confronted with bumper challenges ranging from shortage of logistics and manpower.

He said the state command lacks effective communication gadgets to communicate with other outpost, the commissioner hinted that the paucity of fund also hinders the fight against crime considering the cost of managing security.

Sadiq Abubakar buttressed that the state command has recorded modest achievement in fighting crime and criminality despite the precarious challenges faced by the Nigeria Police in Nasarawa state.

The commissioner listed some of the successes to include combating crime to the fullest which he maintained that the state has charged 328 criminals to court while 490 ammunitions were recovered.

Sadiq Abubakar revealed that two AK47 rifles, 12 AK49,1 FMC file,2 English pistols,30 cartridges,27 vehicles, 28 motorcycles, 48 Local pistols,N9m fake currency and over 700 cattle rustlers arrested.

The commissioner of police applauded the state government for the unflinching support accord the police, calling on the state government to do more.

It would be recalled that the edifice donated by the state government to Nigeria police was built by the successive regime of governor, Aliyu Akwe Doma while the present administration succeeded in renovation of the male hostel of the School of Nursing and Midwifery.
