Nasarawa Police Apprehend 5 TIV’s, 2 Fulani’s For Alleged Burning Of Houses In Trouble Communities

The Nasarawa State Police command has arrested 7 Persons in connection to burning of houses at some trouble communities in Obi Local Government Area of the state.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Idirisu Kennedy has said,the PPRO while briefing Journalists at the State Command in Lafia

“The Police Command has observed with dismay that some of the problems witnessed in the affected communities were masterminded and fuelled by some criminal elements out of mischief and desire to settle personal and long standing grudges”.

DSP.Kennedy opined that the border communities of Nasarawa and Benue State were engulfed by the spillovers of Fulani/Farmers clash in Benue State.

The Command spokesman identified fear to possible attack to  the mass exodus of people to a safer place, he said the aggressive patrol embarked by Police yeilded fruitful results.

The steps according him have to an extent reduced the spate of attacks on persons living at the border communities and the various IDP camps in the affected Local Governments.

He affirmed that the Command continue to receive complaints of cases of burning deserted houses,he however said suspects were nab by the police.

The Police Public Relations Officer unveiled that Nicholas Alua and three others all TIV’s by tribe taken advantage of the pericarious situation to criminally conspired and went to Farin Ruwa l in Obi Local Government and set fire on hatched houses belonging to their fellow TIV brothers.

Others arrested on the same day also include Ijakeni Uhon of Gidan Nguyinyi was also arrested for burning down 25 hatched houses belonging to TIV’s at Gidan Wakili.

Again one Denis Utsa  of Kadarko and three others were nab for conspiring and burn down house of Edward Alima of the same address.

The spokesman said two of the suspect were charged to court,on Police said Bagu Anaruwa and Rabo Anaruwa all Herders were arrested for criminally conspiring and burning down fifteen houses belonging to Tiv men of Kuduku all village in Keana Local Government.

He said the suspects would soon be charge to court.
