Dr.Yusuf Agabi, the governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party said the zoning of governorship ticket of the party ahead of the 2019 election is not for the best interest of the party.
Agabi gave the disclosure when members of the Correspondents’ Chapel paid him a sallah visit at his abode in Lafia,he opposed the zoning formula of his party, saying the PDP in Nasarawa state is the only state that adopted the zoning system.
“Nobody knows why the party is in a hurry to arrive at this decision, out of 36 states is only in Nasarawa state that zoning was adopted.
Adding that from 1999 to date such policy has never been enforce, not now that the fate of the party hang on the balance, reasons been that critical stakeholders dumped the party in anger.
” Aftermath of the 2015 governorship election we lost many of our party men and women to other opposition parties in the state, what we expect from the chairman is building a formidable and strong political party instead of taking such a position which if time is not taking would plunged the party into dissary”.
When asked whether he has the intention to defect to another political party ahead of 2019 to actualized his governorship dream, Dr.Agabi said is still making consultation with critical stakeholders, adding that his loyalists would decide whether to remain in the party.
