The Nasarawa State Commissioner of Agriculture, Jameel Zakari worried over the butchering of sick and unhygienic animals by butchers has given a strong warning to such people to desist or face the full wrath of the law.

The Commissioner disclosed this during an exclusive interview with selected Journalists at the ministry.

He said the ministry is working round the clock with Veterinary officers in dislodging suspected criminals amongst butchers selling unwholesome meat to the general public.

“If you see something, say something, appealing to the general public to report suspected cases of sale of death and sick meat to the people.

“The ministry of agriculture recently in collaboration with security agencies apprehended 2 criminal elements selling sick and death beef to the public.

While reacting on the sale of 2018 fertilizer, the Commissioner asserted that no cases of fertilizer diversion were recorded in the State.

He attributes the hitch-free distribution to a robust exercise. Speaking on water pollution, Jameel Zakari warned Fisher men of the peril of using chemical to catch fish.

“The use of chemicals to catch fish has an adverse effect to the lives of people especially those leaving within water side”.
