An investigation by UNIVERSALREPORTERS revealed that the thirteen Local Governments of Nasarawa State have a total of 8,336 staff, an insider said the record followed statistics for 2022-2023.
It was, however, revealed that the staff strength of Local Government from 2020-2021 stands at 8,496 workers.
While in 2017-2020, The actual number of staff stand at 9,013.
The cumulative number comprises unified staff, That is staff from grade level 06 who are employed by the Local Government Service Commission while the other category of staff known as delegated staff, is those employed from 01-05 by the Local Government.
Lafia Local Government Council has a total of 2,146 workforce, That is, having the highest number of civil servants followed by the Doma Local Government, going by the statistics has a staff strength of 1,522 civil servants.
While Karu Local Government, The gateway Local Government to the nation’s capital has a total of 754 civil servants, and Nasarawa Eggon Local Government has a number of 596.
Toto has a total of 595, Nasarawa Local Government,a Local Government from the western zone of the State has a total of 577 workforce while Obi Local Government from Nasarawa South has a total number of 490 staff.
Keana Local Government has a staff strength of 465 workers, according to available records with an update from 2017-2020.
Awe Local Government has a total of 442 staff, while Keffi, one of the oldest Local Governments in the then-defunct Plateau State has a staff strength of 431.
Akwanga, The headquarters of Akwanga Local Government has a staff strength of 383, followed by Kokona with a total number of 351 workers.
Wamba Has The Lowest Number Of Workforce Which Stand At 263 Civil Servants
Also, available statistics from 2020-2021 has shown that Lafia has a total number of 2,128, workers, which is the highest number of workers cut across the thirteen Local Government.
Doma Local Government has a staff strength of 2,163 staff, which is the second highest Local Government, followed by Karu with 744 staff while Nasarawa Eggon has a total.
Nasarawa Local Government has a staff strength of 570 civil servants and Toto has a cumulative total of 575.
Obi Local Government has a total number of 459, followed by Keana with 458 and Keffi 427, Awe with 416, and Akwanga with 373, last but not least is Wamba with a workforce of 260 civil servants.
Giving the entire statistics of 2020-2021 staff strength to 8,496 staff.
available record from 2022-2023 indicates that the staff strength stands at 8,336, That is Lafia, The State capital has a total workforce of 2,107, followed by Doma with 1,147 staff.
Karu Local Government has a total of 736 civil servants while Nasarawa has 559 and Nasarawa Eggon has a total of 568 and Toto has 561.
Obi has a total of 443, Kokona 335, Akwanga 365, Awe 401, Wamba 246 civil servants, Keffi has 418 and Keana has 450 workers.
Available has shown that in Akwanga Local Government 18 retirees while Awe has 41 and Doma Local Government has a total of 375 and Karu has 18.
Also, Keana has 15 retirees in the years under review, Keffi has 13 old citizens and Kokona Local Government retired 16 persons and Lafia has a total of 38, Nasarawa has 18.
Nasarawa Eggon retired 47 staff from service while 32 left the service of Toto Local Government, and 17 retired from Wamba Local Government respectively.
Onlookers continue to ask questions about why Local Government staff is dying and retiring from service and yet the staff salaries remain constant for years, only time shall tell.
