Nasarawa Local Government Poll: Toto Concerned Citizens Resisted Imposition Of Candidates

The loyalist of the All Progressives Congress in Toto Local Government Area of Nasarawa State storm the headquarters of the ruling party in Lafia, the State capital demanding for fair play and Justice to all aspirants in the forthcoming Council poll slated for the 26th May 2018.

The Chairman of the team, Suleiman Mohammed Appollo lead the protesters to the party office, also in a statement dated 3rd April 2018 and made available to Journalists.

According to the Chairman, “We are writing to register our protest over the outcome of yesterday’s stakeholders meeting where some stakeholders from Toto Local Government Area who are not in touch with the grass root misinformed our amiable and people-oriented Governor who is a known Democrat (Umaru Tanko Al-Makura) of an agreement that never exists.

The Concerned citizens resisted the imposition of an unpopular chairmanship contender, Prince Nuhu Dauda on the citizenry of Toto Local Government.

The chairman said that some few individuals misinformed the state governor of a rotational arrangement between the three districts, saying is a complete fallacy.

“We want to set the record straight by saying that at no time has the people of the area met on power shift”.

The said stakeholders want to disrupt the peace we have been enjoying since your coming on board as the governor of our dear state by imposing an unpopular candidate on the peace-loving people of Toto Local Government Area.

“Your Excellency may wish to recall that the people of Toto LGA have voted you massively during your second tenure.

Appealing to Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura to intervene by allowing democratic elections of the people’s representative at the third tier of government to see the light of the day.

The Concerned citizens say only free and fair election, not imposition would better the democratic settings at the Local Government level.

They commended the state governor over his developmental stride in Toto Local Government, wishing him the best as he piloted the affairs of the state.

And addressed to the chairman of the State Independent Electoral Commission, the State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, the State Commissioner of Police and Director, State Security Services.
