  • Ignore Them, PDP Tells Workers

Sequel to the ongoing labour strike embarked by the Nasarawa state chapter of the Organized Labour, the state government has directed Permanent Secretaries, chairmen of Boards, Parastatals and agencies to open an attendance register for civil servants in the state.

The directive was contained in a press release issued by the Head of Service, Thomas Ari Ogiri dated 11/05/2017 and made available to Journalists.

The Head of Service reiterated that any civil servant who does not adhere to the directive and failed to report to duty will be held personally liable for his or her action.

Thomas Ogiri directed Permanent Secretaries, chief executives of commissions, Board and Parastatals to ensure compliance to the directive by forwarding attendance register to the Head of service on daily basis.

The Head of service warned the striking workers to shift ground as he said absenteeism would be considered as abscondment and will not be tolerated by the government.

But the state chairman of the People’s Democratic Party, Hon.Francis Orogu called workers in the state to ignore the directive, describing it as anti labour.

“The Head of service was a carrier civil servant and should know this”

“Is not only core civil servant but also a critical stakeholder in the affairs of organized labour.
