Nasarawa Government Embarks On Fumigation of 6 Public Tertiary Institutions As Schools Resume

The government of Nasarawa state has embarked on the fumigation of six public tertiary institutions in the state as the benefiting institutions are about commencing academic activities.

 

The General Manager of the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resource, Iliya Yusuf Adeka in an interview during the exercise at the New site of the School of Nursing and Midwifery said the ongoing exercise is the third phase of the fumigation exercise.

 

The General Manager explained that the first phase was the disinfectant and decontamination of 408 public Secondary Junior Secondary schools who sat for the Junior West African Examination Council.

 

Adeka added that the second phase was the commencement of fumigation of 1402 Primary schools and the third phase was for the six tertiary institutions.

 

The 6 tertiary institutions, according to him includes the Nasarawa State University, Keffi, College of Education, Akwanga, College of Agriculture, Science and Technology, Lafia, College of Health Technology, Keffi, School of Nursing and Midwifery, Lafia and Isa Mustapha Agwai l, Polytechnic, Lafia.

M of the ministry, this medium can authoritatively confide that the team that covered School of Nursing and Midwifery and it extension at Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital has done a good job while the team that leads the fumigation of Isa Mustapha Agwai l, Polytechnic, Lafia embarked on partial fumigation by skipping numbers of offices.

 

As at press time some of the sensitive locations like the former holding center for coronavirus pandemic victims were not fumigated, In College of Agriculture, Science and Technology, the story was the same as competent source confided that the team which comprises of people from the Ministry of Education and Environment fumigate selected locations only.

 

The Rector of the Polytechnic, during a telephone interview, said the female hostel which was formerly used as a holding center was excluded due to the presence of unidentified persons.
