Nasarawa Government Earmarked N78m For The Construction Of Fire Service Headquarter—-Commissioner For Works, Housing And Transport By Rabiu Omaku

The Government of Nasarawa state  has reiterated it determination in tackling the incessant  fire outbreak in the state by earmarking the sum of N78M for the construction of a befitting “state of the art”fire service headquarters in Lafia, The been the seat of power.

Engr.Yahaya Wada, The state commissioner for Works, Housing and Transport stated this in an interview, He unveiled that the frantic steps taken was meant to addressing the hiccups faced by fire brigade  in the state.

Engr.Wada further said the state Government was poise to establish additional fire service station in Lafia central market, Karu, Obi,Toto to avert future occurrence of fire outbreak in other parts of the state.

The commissioner asserted that the project was expected to be completed in six months time, He however said the

Project will consume a whooping N78M, Adding that the N78Mwas for the construction of structures and observatory.

Wada affirmed that the observatory if completed will serves as a  signal point to detect outbreak of any inferno in the state  capital and it environs, The commissioner said the stringent measure for the completion of  capital projects in Nasarawa state was for  the state to  compete among it peers .

“The state capital was a glorified Local Government lacking basic infrastructures which has direct impact on the livelihood of the citizenry, Commenting on the shortage of personnel at the state directorate of fire service he said the state Government will collaborate with the Local Governments that benefited from the proposed fire service stations.

“The state Government will provide skeleton staff while the Local Government Authorities will provide supportive personnel as well,Feilding question  on the slow pace of township roads in Keffi, Nasarawa and  Nasarawa Eggon,The commissioner affirmed that the state Government revoke the ongoing township roads due to snail movement of the project.

“Money was given to construction firms but projects were not completed for a long period of time, speaking on absence of state Government terminal and other motor parks, Engr Wada said the state Governments determine to construct modern motor parks in Lafia, Karu and Mararaba.

While fielding question on the 500 housing units situated along Doma road,He attested that the housing units will be allocated to the state civil servants ,The commissioner said 320 housing units out of the 500 housing units were completed and ready for allocation.

Commissioner opined that the parade ground will be upgraded to stand the taste of time, Adding that parade ground will compete with Eagle square in the Federal Capital Territory.

On the number of kilometer constructed by Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura ,Engr. Wada averred that over 120KM asphalt  overlaying were constructed  cut across Local Governments, Other category of road projected executed are concrete drainages was also constructed
