Nasarawa State Honorable commissioner Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs Hon. Haruna Osegba gave the assurance that percentage salary payment would end by December 2017.
The Commissioner buttressed that boasting the Internally Generated Revenue to the clear payroll of workers would nip the preponderances of regime of percentage salary payment by the bud.
He disclosed this to newsmen shortly after the state’s local government Joint Account Committee and stakeholders meeting.
Hon. Haruna Osegba said that the 13 Local Government Councils shared the sum of N1.8 billion for October salary.
He said the amount was meant for the payment of staff salaries for the month of October.
The Commissioner explained that the allocation was N300 million less than what local government areas got in the previous month.
The local government Areas would be able pay salaries ranging between 65 -85 percent as was done in the last month.
“JAC agreed that the local government councils would work assiduously to ‘clean up’ their payroll and we hope that if we work hard as agreed to clean our payroll and explore other avenues of generating internal revenue”.
He called for the understanding, patience and support of all workers as government was working assiduously to ameliorate their plight.
