Nasarawa Assembly Suspends Clerk Over Fraudulent Withdrawal Of N1 Million

Nasarawa-State-House-of-AssemblyThe Nasarawa State House of Assembly has suspended the clerk of the Assembly Ego Maikeffi over fraudulent withdrawal of N1m from the coffers of the House; the members questioned him why he made the withdrawal without the approval of the House.

Hon .Abubakar Ogbere Kana (APC) representing Kokona West in his submission at the floor of the House raised alarm over the unlawful transaction by the clerk without prior approval by the House.

The House unanimously directed the assistant clerk, Ibrahim Musa to act as the clerk pending the findings to be conducted by a committee over to unraveled financial recklessness leveled against the clerk.

Ego Maikeffi beside unilateral withdrawal of N1m was also accused of insubordination in the discharge of his duty, Maikeffi took over as the clerk following the demise of the clerk Moses Ondaki.

The speaker, Hon.Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi directed that the Assistant clerk to take over from the embattled clerk who was accused.

The House members also fumed over the delay in the payment of Teachers and Local Government workers salary, Hon. Kazzim Moh’d Kazzim (APC) representing Akwanga West expressed dissatisfaction over delay in the payment of Local Government and primary school teachers.

He called on the state Government/Nasarawa State Universal Basic Education (NSUBEB) to expedite action in the payment of workers salary; workers in the third tier of Government are passing through hard times when it comes to welfare of staff.

Further findings by this medium unfolded that Local Government staffs are in quandary over the non payment of two months’ salary.
