Nasarawa Assembly Speaker Says Governor Al- Makura Lied About Projects, Vows Probe

The speaker of the Nasarawa state House of Assembly, Musa Mohammed, has said that the state assembly will investigate the false claim of provision of water across the state by the Congress for progressive change, CPC, government in the state led by Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura.

The speaker made the disclosure at the commissioning of some constituency projects in Nasarawa Eggon local government area of the state executed by Mohammed Muluku, PDP, representing Nasarawa Eggon East in the state assembly.

The house had, in the past, threatened to impeach the governor for not respecting the resolutions of the house and other constitutional provisions.

The speaker who represents’ Nasarawa Central constituency on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, decried the “false” claim by the state executive arm of government of provision of water across the state. He described it as a figment of the imagination of the CPC led government in the state.

The speaker is leading a 24 member house of assembly with 19 of them on the platform of the PDP and five on the platform of the CPC.

Mr. Mohammed said that his constituency, Nasarawa central, was among the areas the CPC claimed had flowing water; adding that in the last one year, his people have been relying on borehole which was not the case during the PDP led government in the state.

“They said they have provided water in even in my constituency but as I am talking to you I don’t know when water flow in the taps last,” the speaker said.

He urged the people to be patient as the state assembly will soon commence investigation into the claims to ascertain the truth of the matter.

“I urge you not to worry very soon we will get to the bottom of the claim because as responsible representatives we will not close our eyes to such fallacy against our people,” said Mr. Mohammed.

He added that the state government has been ruling divisively which in turn had yielded poverty and insecurity rather than development across the state. He urged the crowd to vote wisely in the 2015 general election.

The occasion was attended by the Minister of Information Labaran Maku, state PDP chairman, Yunana Iliya and members of the state assembly.
