Nasarawa Assembly Moves To Avert Nasarawa State University Strike

The Nasarawa State House of Assembly in a move to avert another round of industrial action by the Academic Staff Union of University (ASUU) of the Nasarawa State University, Keffi, and The state owned University has pleaded with the union to bury their hatchet.

Chairman House committee on education, Honorable Daniel Ogazi commended the leadership of ASUU for their understanding, Saying if allow to embark on strike action academic activities and students alike would suffer the consequences of the face-off.

The Vice chairman of the Union, Dr.Barde Barnabas said industrial action is the only solution to press on the non-payment of arrears, allowances, As well demanding that the state Government should upgrade facilities at the state university, Keffi and among others.

Also the Bursar of the institution, Stephen Azizi has tendered documents of the fifty four (54) bank accounts operates by the University before the committee members,

It could recalled that the state Assembly and the Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Muhammed Akaro Mainoma are in a fierce loggerhead over his non-appearance before the Honorable House over the role he played in 2015 admission.

The Assembly accused Mainoma for given utmost admission to non indigent students in last year admission urging the House of Assembly to suspend the vice chancellor.
