Nasarawa @24:Why Engr. Sule Should Digitalize Our Civil Service To Avoid Gross Misconduct

The former and first female Secretary to the State Government, Hajiya Zainab Ahmed who is currently a commissioner in the state Civil Service Commission has open the can of worms in the state civil service which she said gross misconduct by those in the top echelons of affairs, she appealed to Governor Abdullahi Sule to key into the digitalization of government activities in the state.

 

Hajiya Zainab lamented the way and manner Ministries, Departments and Agencies are relying on files instead of having data base.

 

“Movement of files in government businesses is an obsolete method of communication”.

 

Saying the State government must do more by ensuring that the state is ICT compliant.

 

“Our civil servants must be computer literate for our system to work again”.

 

The commissioner Civil Service Commission explained that the analog system of communication gave rise to the forging of information.

 

Zainab proposed for the state government an orientation as well as training and retraining of civil servants.

 

As she identified key weaknesses in the state civil service to include low capacity, lack of passion for work, and poor working conditions.

 

Other anomalies in MDA’s according to Zainab Ahmed are ineptitude and gross misconduct.

 

The state commissioner of Justice, Barrister Abdulkarim Kana in his address said is high time the state government cut the cost of governance while comparing the incumbent administration to the past.

 

He said the establishment of the Bureau for Rural Development was an intention to open up new roads in the rural areas as well as provide water and electricity.

 

On the rising waves of insecurity in the state, the Attorney General challenged security agencies in the state to wake-up from their slumber by focusing on safeguarding the lives of the people.

 

He said the State House of Assembly passes 18 bills into law, adding that 7 new laws would be presented by the Governor to the Assembly, He stated.
