The National Association of Nigerian Students, NANs Zone A has condemned the recent attacks in Shinkafi and Numan communities of Zamfara and Adamawa states respectively.

In a press release signed by Zone the public relations officer Mukhtar Muhammad, the students’ association expressed grief about what it called continues attacks by arm bandits on some communities in northern parts of the country.

“It is with great sorrow and a heavy heart that the National Association of Nigerian students finally finds the words to say,  words of sympathy even to self, in the circumstances, for others. We hereby express heartfelt condolences to the Nigerians especially environs of Adamawa and Zamfara states,  over the usual, never-ending, periodical, heart-rending farmers/herdsmen tragedies. Our tears have not yet dried, our anguish has not yet abated, nor has our anger diminished over the attack on some communities in Shinkafi and Maradun local government areas of Zamfara state, in which more than 30 people died with several others displaced; when news of predictable, and preventable attack in Kikan community of Numan Local government of Adamawa state, in which, 45 people died and many more missing, came. It’s unfortunate that the security agencies in these areas are unable to stem attacks”. The statement added.

The statement also lamented that the security agencies and the residents of the communities could not handle such cases of attacks when they arise, resulting in the continued fear and feeling of general insecurity among the residents.

Mukhtar, however, called on the Federal Government to address the security challenges in Zamfara and other parts of Nigeria adding that it’s unfortunate that some parts of the country remain a mere death trap.
