NANS 2015: Time For Nigerian Students To Choose; Part 4

Ibrahim Kabiru Dallah

Last week piece witnessed yet another drama in the history of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) where Sheriff E. E. Zadok, one of the NANS Presidential Aspirant that has spent over 10years in NANS, insulted Northerners as Boko Haram during the 2015 general election, master minded suspension of the Students Union President of UniZik and expulsion of one of the Students leader of Anambra State University Ulli, and many other atrocities, employed some of his e-rats that has never been to NANS convention neither do they knows anything about the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) to insults the National President of NANS, High Chief (Dr.) Tijani Usman Shehu and other well-meaning leaders of NANS.

However, with the bad characters that Zadok and his co-traveller displayed last weekend has really shown and vindicated some of the leaders of NANS from South-East preaching that Zadok shouldn’t be trusted with leadership. That will be a topic for another day.

Today, I present to you a young, vibrant, pragmatic and dogged Comrade Nwachukwu Okpalaoka for NANS President from University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Enugu State.

As a matter of fact, Okpalaoka is one of the NANS Presidential Aspirant that has no single problem with anybody whatsoever across the length and breadth of Nigeria after Anya S. Anya, one of the challenges that Okpalaoka might likely face before the next election is the endorsement of his candidature by the incumbent President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) High Chief (Dr.) Tijani Usman Shehu.

It’s no more news that the incumbent President has empowered many Comrades in Nigeria and in the Diasporas but some Comrades from the South-West and Zone ‘B’ where the next President will come from are aggrieved based on the fact that the empowerment schemes has not reached them, as such, they might be tempted to revolt against the candidate of High Chief (Dr.) Tijani Usman Shehu.

Without mincing words, Okpalaoka has a very good vision and mission for the ordinary Students both in Nigeria and in the Diasporas, I have had an opportunity of interacting with him one-on-one about the future of NANS and what I deduced from our discussion has clearly shown that NANS deserve somebody like Okpalaoka as the President.

Though, it is not a crime in the South for someone to be wasting much time on bottles of BEER but if Okpalaoka become the next President of NANS he would one day closed down NIGERIA BREWERIES for Nigerian Students to drink for free and PMB might not takes it likely with a President of NANS that all his time will be wasted in the beer parlour. Please forgive me for intruding into his personal life.

It is on records that I do not any have candidate for now because I am for everybody but as time goes on, I will display here on Social Network the best candidate among those I am analysing.

But some past leaders of NANS also strike more sympathetic notes about the those supporting the candidature of Sheriff E. E Zadok. They see the new developments as simply evidence of student leaders’ degeneration in Nigeria.

Perhaps those supporting Zadok are either too young while he was still active in NANS, or does not have a sense of history to recollect that it was this same Zadok that terminated the future (academically) of some of the Nigerian Students in the South-East, and under whose watch some freedom fighters were rusticated from their various Universities.

Therefore, without sounding immodest, may God grant the Nigerian Students a special place in their heart to forgive Zadok.

The series will continue next week
