N1M Awaits Winners Of My Wrestling And Local Boxing Competition-Senator Onawo

The Senator representing Nasarawa South Senatorial district, Senator Mohammed Ogoshi Onawo (PDP) has urged youth in Nasarawa South to unlock their potential by coming up with something meaningful that will benefit them and the society instead of allowing themselves to be used as political tools by self-seeking politicians.

The Federal lawmaker gave the hint while addressing youth at the end of his football competition tagged “Mohammed Ogoshi Onawo Unity and Peace Cup, a competition that was played at the Central Primary School pitch recently.

He maintained that the fulcrum of the competition is to bring youth together as well to hunt for talent, Onawo however explained that the next completion which will come up in the next six months will also include wrestling and Local boxing.

“Youth go and think over this, my upcoming competition, I will expand it to wrestling and Local boxing, where the winners will go home with N1m”.

Senator Ogoshi Onawo who was full of excitement at the Doma Central primary School final called on youth not to allow themselves to be used as political mercenaries by self-seeking politicians who have nothing good for the younger generation.

He presented consolation prizes to the first winner with footballs, jerseys, and N150,000 cash to go to the first place winner, Black Star F.C of Agbashi while the second position got jerseys, and footballs with N100,000 cash.

Also, the third place winner, Lion Stars F.C of Doma got jersey football freebies and N50,000, The Senator commended the referee and other officials for being open through the ninety minutes of play  which ended in goalless

“The referees and your team, are impartial in your judgment during the ninety minutes full time in the game, If other referees are to be like you there will be peace in all games, He added.

He also applauded the players and their supporters for exhibiting maturity throughout the ninety minutes game As he advised the youth in Nasarawa South to pursue education more than money

“The two, that is money and education are all very important in our daily endeavor.

The final competition which ended in a penalty shoot-out ended 3-1 as Black Star F.C of Agbashi scored 3 goals while Greater Tomorrow F.C of Lafia scored 1 goal to take second place and Lion Star F.C of Doma took third place.

The 16 teams that participated in the football competition are Black Star F.C of Agbashi, Oyanki Boys F.C, Okala Academy  F.C, Greater Tomorrow F. C, Lafia, Ogene F.C, Doma,90 F.C, Shooting Stars F.C, Chokali F.C Daddere, Lion Stars, Lafia, Giza United.

Others are Lion Heart F.C Doma, Eggie F.C Obi Brighter Tomorrow F.C of Awe, Ambassador F.C Doma, and Golden Boys Lafia.

The competition ended with fanfare as Black Star of Agbashi burst into a celebration.
