N11.5Million Corruption Scandal Rocks Nasarawa State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board

Nasarawa State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board is at the moment currently enmeshed in an N11.5 million fraud.

According to a lawyer in Nasarawa State, Barrister Abdullahi Ubandoma Abdullahi in a letter of a formal complaint to the Public Complaint Commission over the swindling of N11.5 Million said the money belongs to eleven intending pilgrims.

The 11 affected pilgrims through their lawyer Ubandoma had through a letter of complaint dated 18/08/2016 demands for the immediate refund of N11,550,000.00 meant for the airlifting of people has been defrauded by a staff of the board, Sagir U.Mohammed who is now at large.

The affected pilgrims are

2.Datti Musa Abdullahi

3.Ahmadu Yusuf Mainasara

4.Umar Makaho

5.Jibrin Yusuf Jibrin

6.Abubakar Buba

7.Mohammed Sani

8.Hadiza Ahmadu Juli

9.Amina Ahmadu Kabo

10.Habiba A.Judao

11.Usaini Budi

As at press time there was is no response from the Regulator over the complaint by the eleven Fulani’s, but when asked on whether the client to the eleven affected persons would drag the board to a court of competent jurisdiction, Barrister Ubandoma said the court remain the last resort.

“But I am aware that the Governor has directed the board to ensure that the guy that collected the money is brought to book” When they fail to take them for hajj or refund the money, our last option is to sue the board

The fraudster, Sagir Mohammed corrupt acts were exposed when after the full preparation which include the distribution of traveling bags to intending pilgrims but the eleven affected pilgrims were not captured in the distribution of hand bags by the board.

Anomalies are committed annually by staffers of the board but they have continue to walk free in the state, it would be recalled that nine pregnant women were exempted from embarking on the Holy pilgrimage.
