Senator-Muhammad-Jibrillah-Bindow-288x300The Governor of Adamawa state, Senator Jibrila Mohammadu Bindow says his  vision of taking the state to the next level is an agenda that nobody can stop him.

“I have a passion for my state, turning it a place and a state of our dream,” Bindow said.

Gov. Jibrilla made this known on today while receiving members of the Adamawa Peace Initiative (API) in the Government House Yola.

He further stressed that his love for the state has ginger him to  established  the N5 Billion Trust fund for care and reconstruction for the insurgency damaged communities in the state.

Bindow said that the fund would be used for partial rehabilitation of the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs)in the state.

He said that technocrats had already designed the infrastructure model for the rehabilitation.

According to him, the committee was already working modalities to identified communities that are peaceful for people to return.

The governor said that his concern was for the displaced people to return to their ancestral homes in start life again.

Bindow said that the funds would be made available for any viable group or individual who could develop viable ideas for the programme.

“We have established a N 5 Billion trust fund to assist in the rehabilitation of our displaced people.

‘`We are already identifying those communities that are peaceful and stable to commence the project.

“Our technocrats are already designing the kind of infrastructure that would best suit the returnees before the federal government would finally resettle them.

“Our concern is for our people to return to their ancestral homes and start their life again.’’

Bindow said that some of his associates had already started contributing to the trust, adding that one of his uncles had already donated a N100 Million into the fund.

While commending the API for their support to peace and the plight of the IDPs, Bindow said his vision for the state was to turn the state into the state of our dream.

He announced his membership of the API and vowed that his administration would not be dictated by the political `big wigs’ in the state.

According to him, I did not become a governor by accident, because I have the  plan to be a governor and I have worked for it.

Earlier, Dr. Margee Ensign, President of the American University of Nigeria (AUN) said that the API had fed over 2,700 IDPs without government intervention.

Ensign, who was the leader of the delegation said that the initiative had reached out to women and vulnerable children most of who were displaced by the insurgency.

She said that the American government had approved a budget of $ 801 Million for housing, medical and food for the rehabilitation of the IDPs.

She commended the state government for it’s resolved to partner with the initiative.

Ensign said the initiative which was the brain child of the AUN has registered 104 football teams in the state which were regularly engaged in various football competitions.

She added that the idea of organizing such competitions was to promotion peace and unity in the state.

She said the initiative had also trained some of the players on entrepreneurship development, especially in the area of information technology.

Our correspondent reports that the API was the conglomeration of religious leaders and NGOs in the state.
