My Government Will Comply With Freedom Of Information Act- Governor Sule

Governor ,Engr.Abdullahi Alhaji Sule of Nasarawa State has said he would work with the provision of the Freedom of  Information Act as far as he remained the  governor of the State.

He stated this during an interactive session with Journalists at the seat of power, Engr. Sule tasked media practitioners on the need for factual information dissemination..

The Chief executive assured that his administration will work hand in hand with the media.

Governor, Abdullahi Alhaji.Sule unveiled a media policy that will guide the media for the effective communication of its policies.

Unveiling the document, Governor Abdullahi said the policy prescribes the rule of engagement to enable his administration achieve its objectives.

While reiterating the significance of the media, the Governor emphasized that no government will succeed  without taking the media as partner  in progress.

” We understand the importance of the  press in ensuring that accurate information  is disseminated,” the governor said.

He said with his corporate sector background, where participants follow certain rules and procedures in order to succeed.

While welcoming inputs from journalists in the state towards polishing the media policy for maximum effect.

Engr.Sule tasked media practitioners on accurate information dessimination as he  opined that his administration will work hand in hand with the media.

In his response, state Chairman of the Nigerian  Union of Journalist (NUJ) Dogo Shammah, commended  the Governor for appointing members of the union as part  of his appointees.

Comrade Shammah assured the Governor that journalists in the  state are willing to cooperate and work together with him to enable  his administration succeed.

Parts of the media policy unveiled by Governor Sule entails that the state government will comply with all laws and regulations regarding public disclosure of its affairs in line with the  Freedom of Information Bill.

Also, that the office of strategic communication and press affairs will be responsible for ensuring that the media policy and related procedures are communicated to all Journalists who have dealings with the Government House.
