Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State has assured the retired judges of settling all their entitlements and the welfare of judges, including the judiciary staff, as he congratulated them on the celebration of 2025/26 legal year .
Speaking at the High Court complex, Jos on Monday ,Governor Mutfwang urged them to redouble their commitment to delivering sound judgement that can promote justice for all.
He charges that the judiciary, the executive arms should work together for the common wealth of the country that is enshrined in the constitution, as he also commended the judiciary for not allowing itself to use particularly Plateau State judiciary which came second to be known in Nigeria .
Mutfwang called on the jurists to adjudicate with the fear of God, not to be entangled in corrupt practices that would rubbish their integrity of inner bar, and he disclosed that the welfare of those who have retired and serving is paramount when he learned that they have been living under misery, saying that our heroes’ pasts can’t be forgotten.
According to him, we are going to clear their entitlement for over 10 years and above including the condition of judges that have continued to ride on old cars, as he prayed for the legislative arm to adequately capture it during the supplementary budget of 2025 fiscal year to enable the government settle them.
He called on all of us to renew our commitment to the progress of Plateau State because of the security challenges we shall continue to look for alternative measures to end insecurity.
Governor Caleb said that the administration would be recruiting over 1,450 personnel into Operation Rainbow by tasking the citizens to provide credible information security, which is the responsibility of all of us.
We are appealing to members of our communities to give information through the online numbers, especially in our vulnerable villages.
He reiterated his calls for state police with the time now to act as he condemned that those state actors benefiting from the crimes and with the creation of a state-owned police, the crime rate would reduce to its barest level.
Mutfwang urged the National Assembly not to relent in their efforts by also calling for synergy between the bar and the bench for smooth justice, not to deprive all the individuals on the resources that are entrusted with their position .
He stated that members of the bar must sacrifice to serve with conscience, we must not throw our dignity to the garbage but rather protect society.
