By Tom Garba,Yola

A group, Mubi Patriotic Front, has called on EFCC to investigate the financial activities of the Adamawa State University ( ADSU) Mubi, from 2006 to date.

Spokesman of the group, Alhaji Yusuf Baba Maiwanke, said the probe became necessary to save the institution from a cabal that is milking the school and are bent on frustrating anyone from putting a stop from their nefarious activities.

Maiwanke said the group were disturbed by the recent emergence of Professor David Shall as the new Vice Chancellor of the University and the cabal’s effort of frustrating him by all means including writing frivolous petitions.

According to Maiwanke, such frivolous petitions against Prof Shall by the cabal which comprised some top officials of the university included allegations that he was not qualify to hold the position and that he bought an official jeep for the chairman governing board of the university.

Maiwanke who said Professor Shall emerged as Vice Chancellor based on merit after contesting with other candidates, said the purchased of official jeep for the chairman governing board of the university was in order as previous board chairmen under past administration benefitted.

Maiwanke said the need to probe the financial activities of the university from 2006 to date would enable EFCC to know who the real criminals are between Prof Shall and the cabal trying to blackmail him.

He said the probe needed to look into years of alleged mismanagement of the school Internally Generated Revenue as well as taxes and pension deduction.

“We want transparency and not witch-hunting. So we want through probe of the financial activities of the university from 2006 to date” Maiwanke said.
