Missing Trailer of Rice: Kokona Stakeholders Condemned Newspaper Reports As Malicious

Stakeholders in Kokona Local Government Area of Nasarawa State has condemned in strong terms media reports by some National Dailies reporting that a trailer of rice which was 600 bags, a palliative measure  by the State Government are missing.

 

Barrister Abdulkarim Kana disclosed this to Journalists during a stakeholders meeting held at the Chamber of the Local Government at the weekend

 

The Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice described the report as malicious and fake, meant to cause harm to the political carrier of both elected and appointees in Kokona Local Government.

 

Bar.Kana admonished Journalists on the need for balance reportage at all times before going to the press.

 

The Chairman of the Committee insisted that Journalists must change by ensuring that the right thing is done.

 

“The report,I repeat is a cooked report meant to cast aspersion on the personality of stakeholders of Kokona”.

 

He added that none of the Correspondents of the three National Dailies were in Garaku to verify their information; I wonder why a reputable media organization like Daily Trust, Leadership and The Nation would publish such an unbalanced report.

 

“I’m using this medium to send a message to them to retract their unbalanced report that one trailer of rice is missing”.

 

He said decorum and due process of five bags per  polling unit were followed, he called on the good people of Kokona to disregard the publication in The Nation, Leadership and Daily Trust newspapers.

 

“Though we have little challenges as those involved in the exercise did not abide by the instructions given by elders”.

 

The Member Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Hon.Daniel Ogazi chastise the three Correspondents’ for publishing unverified information

 

He stated that the three reporters must retract their reports, describing the scenario as junk journalism.

 

“This yellow and junk Journalism, for one to stay in Lagos and write a report he knows nothing about is quit unfortunate”.

 

Hon.Daniel Ogazi said anybody involved in the diversion of palliative given to the vulnerable persons in the Local Government would be penalized.

 

Ogazi insisted that the right thing must be done to avoid tarnishing the entire imagine of the locality.

 

“The sharing was not across party line because members of the All Progressive Grand Alliance, The Peoples’ Democratic Party and other political parties did not benefit from the gesture”.

 

“Garaku ward being n my ward did not benefit from the sharing formulae”.

 

 

The council Chairman, Hon.Saidu Kurki and the eleven elected Councilors representing their various electoral wards and party executives  of the ruling party were exonerated over the shared palliative.

 

According to Hon.Kurki, he explained that there are issues surrounding the distribution of rice in Hadari electoral ward as it was cooked by Journalists not until this meeting that we discovered that five bags were shared amongst most of the polling units while Kurame 1 and 2,Sauka and Marks were given four bags each.
