Meet the 35 year old candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hon. Lawan Musa who defeated the current Speaker of the Yobe State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Ahmed Lawan Mirwa, who once arrested him over a Facebook post.
According to available information, young Musa was born in 1988 and was just fifteen years when Hon. Mirwa was first elected as Member representing Nguru Outside Constituency in Yobe State.
The Returning Officer of the election, Dr Habib Muhammad, while announcing the results, said Musa scored 6,648 votes to defeat the Speaker, of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who got 6,466 votes.
It was gathered that the Yobe Speaker has been in the house since 2003 when he was elected as House member under the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP).
It was gathered that the Honorable Speaker once arrested Lawal for his Facebook post and had him detained.
When Musa regained his freedom, however, he decided to engage the Honorable at the polls.
All efforts to disparage and dissuade him failed as he kept the struggle alive.
In the end, he won the contest while his friends and well-wisher urged him to be diligent in discharging his responsibility and to be a good ambassador for young people.
Hon. Musa, with the defeat, ended the 20-year reign of Rt. Hon. Mirwa
