A political icon in Northern Nigeria, Alh Sunusi Mato has urged politicians in the country to eschew violence and work toward addressing challenges of insecurity and global economic problem facing the continent.
Speaking to a Universalreporters247.com correspondent in his office in Jos North Local Government Council, Jos, Mato advised federal and state government to create employment opportunity to the jobless youth through empowerment scheme.
Mato challenged Christians and Muslims to bury their differences and work for the restoration of peace in the country.
He called on the religious leaders to eschew violence and embrace peaceful coexistence so that the country will witness human and capital development.
He said Christianity and Islamic religious both preach peaceful coexistence among the follower of the two religions, as such so we have to tolerate one another as members of one family.
Mato begged people to go back to God because of the teaching of the words love your neighbours as yourself, nowhere in the scripture that encourage people to preach violence.
“We see people coming from the north to buy goods here in Plateau, we have seen when some people left Plateau state but some of them are returning to the state now because peace is gradually returning “.
According to him, Plateau state is now 40 years, a lot of achievements have been recorded in the area of Infrastructural development and the area of technological improvement.
He lamented that the crisis which engulfed the state in 2001 was cause by political differences not tribal as people always claim.
We have overcome that agony of hatred; people are moving freely where you can see Beroms and Irigwe women bringing their yam inside Hausa houses and nobody care to attack anyone in respective of tribal affiliation.
