The Jigawa state local government service commission in collaboration with non-governmental organization Integrity and Alliance has organised a two day workshop for Senior local government officials.
The essence of the training is to educate the participants about the danger of environmental pollution which affect the life of people.
While declaring the workshop open the chairman of the local government service commission. Alhaji Uba Bala Ringim said five participants were drawn from each of the local government ,which include DAAF ,DPRS, TRESURER, HOD WORKS, and HOD AGRIC being they are part of the system who aids in assisting the government to control the environmental pollution .
Alhaji Uba Bala charge the participants to utilized the knowledge they have received during the workshop and apply it in the rural areas where the action is needed.
On his part the coordinator of the Integrity and Alliance Prince Josef Aadewale said the training was organised on ecological environment with a view to manage the environment and also to educate people living in the rural areas of Jigawa state.
He added that the purpose of organising the workshop is to tell the people about the effects of environmental pollution and also to reduce wastage of water especially in the rural areas.
He advised the participants to utilize what they have learnt by using it in educating the people in the rural communities.
One of the participants Alhaji mustapha Sadauki Jahun thanked the Jigawa state government and ministry for local government and local government service commission for organising the workshop.
As he said that the workshop will assist them in educating the rural populace on environmental issues which include clearing and cleaning of drainages , desilting of water ways and rivers as well as failing of trees and clearing of lands .
