Lawyer Berates Imo Lawmakers For Alleged Gov. Okorocha Impunity

A legal practitioner Barr Emperor Iwuala has attributed the cause of Governor Rochas Okorocha’s alleged impunity in Imo State to an ineffective state legislature.

 

Barr. Iwuala who is also a journalist and human right activist said this in a recent meeting of members of All Progressives Grand Alliance APGA in Ife/Akpodim/Chokoneze Ward in Ezinihitte Mbaise held at Central School Chokoneze Ezinihitte Mbaise L.G.A of Imo State.

 

He regretted that the current Imo State House of Assembly has refused to remove Governor Okorocha after the governor had allegedly committed a lot of atrocities and impeachable offences while in office.

 

While making his intention to serve as a state legislator known at the event, the former Chief Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor of Imo State advised the people to vote in fearless competent persons of trust whom he said would guarantee good governance and guard against executive lawlessness and abuse of human rights. He however, said that democracy would only be meaningful in the state when government officials start fearing and respecting the masses and not the other way round.

 

Speaking earlier, the chairman of the ward Barr Willie Maduka while thanking members of the party, among other things promised that the party was better positioned to win the 2019 elections in the state.

 

The meeting which was heavily attended also featured renewal of membership and registration of new members into the party.
