Lawmaker Promises Peaceful Co-Existence, Economic Development By Kalshingi H Jedidah Gombe
Elected member House of Representative under the All Progressive Congress APC to represent Akko Federal constituency from Gombe, Alh Umaru Barambu has expressed that, one of his topmost priority as he represent his constituency at the federal level was to maintain peaceful coexistence within his constituency despite the people’s diverse cultural and religious background. According to him, one of the most important function of government is to ensure maximum security and peace within its territory without which it would fail.
The lawmaker expressed his readiness to work hand in hand with President elect, Major General Mohammad Buhari, to also support his positive programmes that he said would have direct bearing on the lives of the people, particularly, those at the grassroots.
” We believe our people deserve the best, and so, we will try as much as possible to maintain peace, we will cooperate with Mr president to make sure Nigeria maintains rapid growth as a country and as giant ofAfrica.” He said.
Barambu who served three times at the State House of Assembly representing Akko Central, the largest constituency in the state, also expressed optimism that the newly elected government would maintain its promises to fight corruption at all levels, he said he was prepared to support with all his might, laws that would work towards achieving a corrupt free society in Nigeria.
According to him, corruptionhas been a ‘thorn in the flesh’ in the whole system of the country for too long, saying Nigerians need to work collectively against corruption at all levelsin other to achieve their desired goals.
He also said, the newly elected government would have to pay more attention to the power sector, and work towards reducing unemployment rate so as to maintain socio- economic growth. He believes that, transforming the power sector would assist in creating massive job opportunities for the teeming unemployed youths in the country.
The law maker also expressed readiness to work within the provision of the constitution to ensure that his large constituency has benefitted massively.”I assure my people that, I’ll continue to give them the best, I also promise to work within the provision of the constitution as a legislature to bring about meaningful development to the door steps of my constituency people because it is all about touching the lives of the people.” he added
