Lack Of Manpower, Mobility, Official Vehicles, Non Accreditation Of Courses Our Constraints-Provost Tells Education Committee

The Management of College of Agriculture Lafia has uncovered that  shortage of man power, lack of mobility and official vehicles for management staff, non-accreditation of some courses in the institution among others are some of the challenges facing the institution and solicited for their support in that direction.

Dr. Mohammed Danlami said that apart from the payment of staff salaries, nothing has been released to the institution for capital projects due to lack of fund as a result of the recession facing the nation.

Danlami commended the efforts of the House committee on Education for facilitating the return of payment of staff salaries to the institution from the state Bureau of salary office.

The provost stated this when House committee on Education, Science and Technology led by the chairman, Hon.Daniel Ogazi while on an oversight visit to the State college of Agriculture, Lafia.

Ogazi assured the institution of the committee readiness to address some of its challenges in order to improve on the standard of education in the state.

He said that the visit was to assess the institution 2016 budget performance so as to guide the committee properly on what to do in the 2017 budget fiscal year of the institution so as to bring the much needed development to the education sector in the state.

He said that the visit was to assess the institution 2016 budget performance

“The aim of this visit was not to witch hunt the institution but to assess the institution 2016 budget performance with the view of addressing any challenge if discovered.

“It is only we the committee know the budget details or performance of the institution for the 2016 fiscal year of the institution that, it will guide us on how to make budget for the institution for the 2017 fiscal year.

“We are considering to initiate a bill a bill for a law to restrict the rearing of cattle in schools and urban centre across the state in the interest of peace and National development.

“We will also synergize with those in position of authority, Fulani Ardos, community leaders and lawyers to advise and proffer a solution on how to make the law a successful one in the interest of the people of the state and for the overall development of the country.

The lawmaker also assured the people of the state of their readiness to enact laws that have direct bearing on the lives of the people of the state and solicited for support to enable them succeed in the task ahead.
